Our Sierra Madre Foothills expedition is a
more in-depth venture into Mazatlan's famed birdwatching
paradise. On this tour, you'll have an opportunity to
spot, photograph, and record over 100 species of birds, many of
them endemic to this region of Mexico, such as the
Black-Throated Magpie Jay, Rufous-Bellied Chachalaca, Sinaloa
Wren, Purplish-Backed Jay, Sinaloa Martin, Citroline Trogon, and
Sinaloa Crow.
At sunrise, we'll depart in an
air-conditioned vehicle, leaving the coastal area and head into
the tropical deciduous forest. We'll search for these
endemic species of birds, as well as such varieties as the
Lineated and Golden-Cheeked Woodpeckers, Squirrel Cuckoos,
Painted and Blue Buntings, a variety of Warblers, and many other
species of birds. After a morning of birding, we'll break
for a delicious lunch, then continue birdwatching (time
permitting) or return to Mazatlan.
Runs: Fridays from 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
This tour does not run August through October.
